Cameron Health, Inc.,
(“Cameron”) is a privately
held company with the
corporate headquarters
located in San Clemente,
California and European
Headquarters located in
Arnhem, the Netherlands.
Cameron has developed a
totally subcutaneous
implantable defibrillator
(S-ICD) System that
remedies many of the issues
associated with traditional
implantable cardioverter
defibrillators (ICD’s). Specifically, Cameron's
S-ICD System is designed to
be smarter, more capable,
and less time-consuming to
implant, program and
follow-up.
An ICD is a small battery
powered electrical pulse
generator that is implanted
in patients who are at risk
for ventricular
tachyarrhythmias. In
traditional ICD devices,
leads are attached inside
or on the patient's heart.
These leads are then
connected to a pulse
generator that is implanted
in a pocket beneath the
patient's skin. When the
ICD detects the patient is
experiencing a life
threatening rhythm, the ICD
shocks the heart to restore
the heart’s normal rhythm.
Unlike a traditional ICD,
Cameron’s entire S-ICD
System is implanted just
under the skin in the
subcutaneous tissue. This
unique positioning may
result in a simpler and
safer implant procedure
than for traditional ICD
devices. Moreover, the lack
of leads on or in the
patient's heart may
eliminate potentially
serious complications
associated with lead
failures in traditional ICD
devices.
